Doctor Jobs – obstetrics and gynecology jobs

The decision to increase the family size should not be made without involving the expertise of an OB-GYN Doctor who not only specializes in the health of the Mother-To-Be, but, must be able to examine, diagnose, and, treat illnesses and diseases she may encounter along the way, chart her medical history, and, counsel her on such issues as diet and exercise, other health issues she may encounter during her pregnancy, reproductive health consultations, hormone disorders, and, menopause.

Qualifications Obstetricians and Gynecologists must meet to work as Doctor jobs specializing in this much needed field include specializing in women’s health by acquiring a 4-year college degree to begin their educational process, followed by a 4-year Medical Doctorate degree, and, 3 to 8 years of Internships and Residency requirements that provides them extensive training and knowledge in such areas as the female reproductive system, labor, anatomy, and, physiology. A background in anatomy, biochemistry, psychology, microbiology, and math, through licensing in every State to practice their chosen Specialty, is also required. They must become Board Certified by the American Board Of Medical Specialists (ABMS), or, by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

Maternal-Fetal medicine is a subspecialty of obstetrics and gynecology jobs that focuses on high-risk pregnancies. Doctors working in this field are known as Gerontologists and concern their practices with women patients referred to them by OB-GYN Doctors. Because the expectant Mother-To-Be may encounter a pregnancy related problem, or, she may simply chose to confer with one on her own without a referral. Care plans tailored to meet the Mother-To-Be needs would be developed, but the patient’s OB-GYN Doctor will oversee the pregnancy as well as deliver the baby. Gerontologists provide services for maternal-fetal care, ultrasounds, diagnostic tests, genetic counseling, and, more. They work with the patient’s OB-GYN Doctor, and, possibly with a Deontological Doctor, Medical Doctors who oversee the newborn baby’s care after birth, which allows the Mother and child to receive the best care possible despite severe problems that may develop along the way.

Wide career paths are available for OB-GYN Doctors to specialize in. These may include Acute and Chronic medical conditions, behavior problems, pregnancy health maintenance, infertility, and Delivery. Each Specialty requires it’s own Certification Examinations, ABOG administered, and, Doctors can be certified in more then one Specialty Field, however, up-to-date certification must also be maintained in Obstetrics and Gynecology. The four Specialties available for certification are Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, and, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. These fields range from comprehensive management of gynecologic cancers, consultations for pregnancy complications, managing complex problems relating to infertility, and, health of the female urinary tract to include possible surgeries required to correct them.

Opportunities for OB-GYN Doctors are vast and varied, to ensure expectant Mothers, and their children receive necessary medical care.
