What is the best Hawaiian honeymoon?

Danielle M asked:

My husband and I are taking our late honeymoon this October, and wanted to take a 10 day trip to Hawaii. What island should we stay at? Do you have a hotel recommendation? What activities should we plan?

You sound like you are in the same boat my wife an I were in 2 years ago. We went on our honeymoon on our 10 year anniversary…hopefully you are no tthat late! ;-)
I did a good deal of research since this might be a once or twice in a lifetime trip for us.

Here are some of my quick recomendations.
    - Pick one island and don’t island hop. Hopping can waste an entire day in paradise…packing up, getting to the airport, short flight, get reset up at new hotel , etc.
    - We chose Maui which we found to be voted most beautiful out of all the islands. We loved it.
    - In Maui we stayed at the Sheraton at Black Rock. People all over Maui visit black rock because it is gorgeous.
(http://www.sheraton-maui.com/) However, while we were there (June 05) it was not crowded. My wife and I could not resist snorkling every single day. Some people have to drive from their hotel to great snorkeling spots. This one is right outside your door. We did go all over maul but found that the best swimming and snorelking was right there.
    - The town of Lahaina was right down the road and featured night live, shopes, eateries, etc. We hope to go back for our 20th anniversary and plan to do the exact same trip, hotel and all because it was wonderful.
    - The road to Hana is pretty cool, but it is worth digging on the internet to find maps to the secret beaches, etc. If you are young and don’t mind hiking through some woods (on paths) you can find some amazing beaches that you have to see to understand.
    - If you plan to snorkel it is worth buying your snorkel stuff at home instead of renting it over and over.
    - Do not overbook your stay (too many activites) leave pleny of free time to just take it all in!
