Which beach location in USA to visit for a 5-day honeymoon trip?

We are planning our honey moon in late January’07 and thinking of a nice sunny beach spot. We cannot afford Hawaii, but is there a beautiful location in Florida or California that has pristine, unspoilt beaches and nearby attractions (theme parks, outdoor activities).

We are seeking a good mix of relaxation with fun activities.

We are planning a trip for 5 days (flight travel inc.)

Can anyone help? Which place do you think is better in January, Florida or California?

    Key West is pretty cool, although there aren’t a lot of beaches there or theme parks. There are lots of outdoor activities, museum, pubs, etc. though. If you go, be sure to take a sunset sail on one of the tall masted ships and be sure to take a day to go out to Dry Tortugas National Park. That was my favorite part of the 10th anniversary trip we took there last February. I’ve heard Key Largo is really cool if you’re into scuba diving. Have not been there myself though. – - – Overall though, I would think the Florida Keys would be a great option.

    Try Sanibel Island. It is a beautiful little island in the Florida Keys. It is within good distance of Fort Myers and you can go to amusement parks down there too!

    Most importantly, it is a small island that is not that crowded and is absolutely gorgeous! You may have to stay on a neighboring key and visit, though. Still good!

    Key West, Florida!!! If you decide the east coast, west coast i would pick Long Beach!!! Best Wishes!!!
